Montessori Room

I have spent a lot of the weekend working on Harrys room, we live in a two bed house so an individual montessori room will just not happen, so harrys room is safe, has a low table and chairs, which she can pull herself up on and shelves which are attached to the wall, did try the child bed but she was playing with her toys till the early hours so she went back into her cot.

So far we have the following infant toddler, practical life and sensorial materials.

Which she uses now.

a set of stacking rings
a cube which you push a ball into
some very large peg jigsaws
a treasure basket

for later on
a learn to dress doll
cylinder blocks
pink tower
assorted jugs bowls and spoons for practical life (used for water play at mo.)

we tend to cycle her toys and place them on low shelves so she can help herself.

We have had a good activity weekend as well, water play, went to the beach and played with the sand, read lots of books and played with dough.

I am also looking for information on montessori from birth to three as my training started a two and a half so I am off to look at amazon.

Going back to go forward.

Its Harry 1st birthday in just over two weeks, so i thought i would blog about my pregnancy and Harrys birth and some of the last year so I have a momento.
Found out I was pregnant 6th October 2003 after eight weeks of trying.
Saw Midwife three weeks later and was told to see Dr at Hospital due ti high BP, I was in and out of the postnatal ward a lot with headaches and high BP, but I really enjoyed my pregnancy apart from PMS type mood swings, I am suprised Mark is still here!!!
Harrys Birth
contractions started 3am on tuesday 15th June 2004 my due date!!!!, went back to sleep till 5am, had a bath put tens machine on got a hot water bottle, phoned my mum who was my second birthing partner and paced the house while stamping my feet and slapping marks arms a lot, that was great pain relief but I left him with bruises, phoned ward at 10 am and finally went in at about 11.15, was told I was 8cm and kept pacing. Started on gas and air, laid down as my knee was killing me, more than labour, then at fully dilated everything stopped, was asked lots of times do you want to push, no enjoying the rest was my thought but then.......
Harrys heart rate dropped, midwife hit buzzer and asked for senior midwife to break my waters but we didnt get her....
We got a doctor who examined me and broke my waters with no consent, found meconium and blood and said I had to go to theatre......
Was told on the way along the corridor sign this, we may injure your bowel but dont worry we will fix it she an instrumental delivery, at this point i was attached to the gas and air when we got to theatre it had worn off, they put a scalp clip on Harry Head and her heart rate was okay?????dodgy sonicaid???? when i said I want to get up they wanted to put my legs up, at that point i thought no one is listening to me and asked to be knocked out was asked are you sure and ended up with a C section, still very annoyed how it was handled and that I missed Harry first minutes also was not keen on the eight odd week recovery, I thought I would put this in words it kind of puts it into perspective any ladies had a VBAC just musing, Rachel and Harry
