It has been so busy here.
Xmas Eve
Spent time with my maternal grandfather, which is a yearly tradition, had my hair cut, harriet played with grandparents had a bath.
Xmas Day
up late by harrys standards (8.15) Harry had presents a trike which was pu away after an hour as she kept hitting the dog, jigsaws and books and a dustpan so she swept every where for ages, once she had the idea how to remove paper from prsents there was no stopping her, she was given a kathe kruse doll and has been saying arrhhh to it since and hugging it.
after a nap she ate loads of lunch including brussel sprouts and played with her playdough cutting out lots of shapes.
Boxing Day
family visits she now has a new wardrobe loads of osh kosh and mini mode, she is a smart little bean now.
Harrys Wiccaning
We have been saying she will be wiccaned for months now and finally arranged it. I spent all of this morning cleaning and laying out the room a trip to tesco was complicated by snow. We were so lucky all the food was done for us, we have a friend who is a chef and everyone arrived sort of on time.
It was a simple service conducted by a friend short beautiful harry complained about being help but after some bribery (naughty mummy) with some crisps she was happy.
It was followed by cakes and wines and chat with friends Harry is now sound asleep.
I will attempt to post some photos tommorrow.
I hope you all had a good yule

I am handing in notice to one job this week and I will take a risk with agency work anything has got to be better than this.
Harry is lovely and thinks playdough is the best thing in the world, if she can put it in the pot take it out of the pot put it in the pot.........
Montessori course is going very well which is good, and soon I will have a new kitchen, off to read a book....:-)

Has Joy
It has been a lovely morning Harry spent twenty minutes taking the rings off of her ring and pole sorter carring them to a large box, putting them in the box one at a time then carring them back to the stand putting them on the poles and repeating the exercise with a huge grin on her face, it just showed the part of normilization when montessori says has joy and this morning I could see it along with repetion, and hand to eye co ordination, muscluar movement......
Its been busy here as usual thank you the advice every one, tax credits sorted need to post my tax rebate, talk to agencies in more detail, try to save a months wages so we have a rainy day fund etc.
Lot happier now.

Where is the time going?
There are Christmas Trees in the shops.....
It has been so busy here, Harry is doing well she is now really into her cylinder blocks, and is enjoying music and percussion and endless stories, we went to the toy libary this morning and got a peg board which she mastered in 10 minutes flat. He dexterity is excellent as are her problem solving skills you can see her working things out, the only problem is every one keeps saying why isnt she talking properly yet, I think to a point she is mainly because I understand Harry language, she can say mum, dad, nan, woof, bear, look, door, yes, please,ta,mine,me,bed, ilk for milk,up,out, book, ooo for pooh bear, tigger and some more so about twenty five in total.
I am now working a twenty eight hour week because my youngest charge has been withdraw from nursery so I am having him for two ten hour days, which is good fun but he doesnt stop so I get home and fall into a heap which is awful. It a case of we need the money ( aim to be as secure as possible by the time Harry is five so I can leave work)but it means my time with Harry is now at such a priemium.
need to think about that one.

Accident and Emergency
That is where we spent last night, Harry fell down our front steps because daddy didnt shut the gate and left the door open :-( I was at work and got a phone call shall I take her to A and E !!!! Nasty bruise very clingy little girl all day but thankfully fine. Must remember daddy has less perception of danger than harry.
Other wise this has been an okay week, did normal bits on monday am jigsaws imbucare and the like and harry did very well with pouring and has taken an interest in sweeping. Yesterday we went to the park and harry made a mad run for the slide and today we have had a little play with one of the cylinder blocks which she is getting very good at I have been looking at a montessori book and reminded myself of the order of presentation with the very young movement of chairs , dressing frames and cylinder blocks. Doing that already which is good.
Anyway bed time hour and bed now. night night.

I need to slow down
What a week, tuesday included the park and indoor play and playdough, Wednesday with new family ten hours not done a ten hour day since I was seven months pregnant took hours to switch off last night.
Today I went out with a friend, looked round shops and had pizza, Harry likes pizza so it seems, had to get her a new harness as she keeps trying to to escape from her pram.
Harry still loves her velcro and will remove her shoes just to play with the velcro.
Her need to walk everywhere is becoming apparent and her favorite word now is ME! ie give me some thats mine dont take it away mum.
We are off on hols next week which due to Marks work commitments means I must undertake a four hour train ride on my own with harry including crossing london, are their any experienced travellers who have any tips how I keep my hyper mobile baby happy for all that time????????

Bye Bye itchy things
My head has finally settled down and I am not covered in bumps!
Harry had a grand weekend we went and saw the grandparents in cheshire and her favorite word was Woof, she loves their dog sadly he thinks she is a nasty toddly tail pulling thing and he kept barking at her which resulted in tears.
She is now toddling quite a lot unaided and her skill are now fantastic putting rings on sticks stacking blocks opening and closing boxes doing velcro and removing her own clothes, I love this age.
I am traying to have lots of one to one fun with her before returning to work.
Baby gym tomorrow I think and then at three thirty we have her developmental check......with the health visitor.

Creepy Crawlies
I know this is too much info, but has anyone got a bug busting treatment for headlice before I go insectacidal, been doing conditioner and tea tree every day for ten days and I have still got them and now I am coming up in what looks like hives due to the bites, little monsters......
On the home ed front it has been grand because i have had time off, we have played with velco (she can remove her own shoes) balls, water, paint built towers with four blocks used duplo which she can do on her own now and her xylophone is now regularly being played.
What have we done in the last week or so.
Harry has done a full day at nursery. A little boy kept taking her bunny away as it made her cry :-(
Had a lovely picnic by the lake at bluewater, harry kept calling the geese ducks, so it was duck duck duck squeal try to run towards them shame they were in the lake!
She has also taken at least fifteen steps on her own.....I think I have a toddler.

Boobie Do
I am going to kill my other half, Harry is now saying boobie do for milk I would have much prefered mummy milk or the like........
A run down of my hectic week
Sunday babysat till late..............
Monday Harry at nursery am, did house work went out for pizza.
Tuesday Harry had a tummy bug spent the day sleeping with her feeding her lots totally off solids and changing nappies.
Wednesday had to go to work that is the thing about being a nanny you are relied on so much and getting cover is hard so my mum had her for the day they did water play and played with bloks and went out, when she saw me after eight hours she had a screaming fit and I had to sit in the car and feed her until she calmed down.
Thursday went to chatham historic dockyard it was fanatastic we did all the exhibitions and I think my charges did nearly all of the early learning goals in one day was very impressed harry had lots of social time strapped to mummy in the wilkinet which she loved and the kids went back to their mum exhusted but happy.
Friday at work again made lapbooks went to the park harry went on the swings all played with lego harry had great fun playing with my younger two charges and has discovered duplo spent a relaxed pm watching mulan.
Today been shopping brought a chalk board had harry in sling again back carrying is a lot more comfy than up front harry is still not to sure how to wrap her legs round my waist and goes a bit flat but otherwise it was ok.
I am off work for four whole weeks.....HURRAY!!!!!!

need to sleep
I am soooo sleepy, I have been so busy this week on Monday harry has her settle at nursery I am apprehensive about the whole idea as it is formal non montessori provision in my eyes but Harry came home bright eyed and bushy tailed so may be its not that bad.
Did my first baby sit with my new family they are fun!!!
Decided to drop my four hours a week cleaning okay it leaves me 100 pounds worse off but it gives me a fully day aweek with Harry.
Will finish later she is yelling

Harry had her MMR this morning not suprisingly she screamed but then popped her thumb in her mouth and waved goodbye to the nurse. She is having a morning nap now.
Well yesterday and today I have got a way with my list.
I have finished the bookshelf
Swept the whole house (except stairs)
Only have one basket of washing left to do

A little bit of me time.
Had a nice few days, Harry spent yesterday am at childminders for settling in so i went shopping and brought things for Harry and drank lots of coffee also got a chance to go to the libary and just browse.
Harry has learnt "more" and "bear" and now thinks that yelling in a high pitched sort of squeal is a good way to get attention.
I think I have the terrible twos developing far far far to early (only kidding she of course is trying to become an independent being....lol).
Need to plan now, need structure, need lists......
to do this weekend book shelf in sitting room, tidy computer area vaccum under sofas.

One Hundred and Fifty Pounds for a BUGGY!!
spent friday on placement at a wonderful pure montessori school and I am still on a high it also reminds me why i want to use montessori to home ed Harry.
We have also arranged a childminder so I can do my placements.
Has anyone worked as a childminder while home edding did it work out and what did the LEA think.
we are also the proud owners of a new buggy as my mothercare one had died, 150 pounds for a buggy dis seem a little steep but when folded in fits in a foot well and it moves like a dream, its great to hear about the camp, who are they rum by I may be being stupid here and how old do the little ones have to be at the youngest.
must do the ironing.....

just another blog
Got a lie in this morning 6.30am, then we both got up bathed had breakfast harry has gone down for her nap and it is only 8.40am.
Hectic few days won't go into details but families can be a pain, perhaps i am very lucky i have a wonderful MIL.
went to chiswick yesterday as mark was at work there, harry and I went shopping, harry had her first go on a swing and we watched the ducks at chiswick house.
she slept all of last night on her futon hurrah, it means that she is not trying to climb out of her cot so we all got a better nights sleep.
just looking at all the new babies must not get broody..............

Stairs
We have had a busy week..
Tuesday
Mid summer, went out shopping and had lunch with harry, she seems to eat more than I do, brought some wax crayons but harry seems more intrested in eating them at the mo.
Wednesday
My birthday, mark was away so harry helped me to open my cards she helped daddy to write hers before he went away, when out with grandma for a pub lunch, why do all childrens menus consist of chips chips and more chips and when you ask them to heat home made food they look at you as if you have five heads.
When to the dentist and had a filling without a local, due to the fact I am still bf harry, dentist was very good about it nor made to feel wierd for feeding a year old child.
Thursday
went to great nannas harry decided to climb her stairs and check out all her bedrooms, is their a sensitive period for stairs?
Friday
Day in southampton to see friends harry slept a lot and ate a lot she has been off her food, not sure if it is the heat or one very large molar appearing.
but she is very keen to stairs and climbing and has started doing jigsaws, we also now have a host of words, mamma dadda bath up out nice more ahhh grandad nanna bed mik (milk) oh and she is attempting to say boobie that is daddys doing and I am not pleased.
on the montessori front I go back to a montessori school one day a week next week on placement, I am very nervous but looking forward to it.
I must blog more often.
enjoy the sun rachel and harry

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY
Harriet was one on Wednesday, I have had my little angel for a whole year.
She had a great day, was given lots of toys all musical or wooden which was good, and she did face painting with her birthday cake.
Then yesterday she took her first unaided steps its all happening here.
I would love to post some photos of her but I have given up with blogger blot, I cant get it to function.
Oh and she has learned how to say no.........

Wonderful Wales
we have just returned from a week on Holy island with Harrys Grandparents.
She has had a great week (however the dog will be happy if he never sees her again)
We have been swimming and with her float suit on she can do a doggy paddle and kick well.
We went to dublin for the day and Harry almost crawled her way there crawling round the boat.
We also went to a farm park and Harry fell in love with a rabbit called popcorn.
The funny part was when we fed the lambs she thought the bottle was for her (cant understand why as she is breast fed)but the lamb must of thought he would lose his lunch.
Back to work and to normal tomorrow, need another week.
Rachel and harry.

More Montessori
I have now got two excellent books on Montessori infant toddler and it is nice to see that I am doing things right so to speak. Harry has now mastered her stacking rings and understands that the imbucare boxes go one way up (ball goes in through a hole in the top and comes out at the bottom).
On the home learning front this week Harry and I have:
experiemeted with crayons
played with dough she keeps trying to feed it to me!
Done lots of water play
played with a bowl of jelly
learned how to do the stacking rings
and turned her room upside down as fast as I could tidy it.
She is blowing raspberries at everyone, we can thank daddy for that!!!!!
I really must finish my packing Harry and I are off to see the grandparents this weekend which means the poor dog will be chased around again.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
ps can you tell me how to put photos on this.

Montessori Room
I have spent a lot of the weekend working on Harrys room, we live in a two bed house so an individual montessori room will just not happen, so harrys room is safe, has a low table and chairs, which she can pull herself up on and shelves which are attached to the wall, did try the child bed but she was playing with her toys till the early hours so she went back into her cot.
So far we have the following infant toddler, practical life and sensorial materials.
Which she uses now.
a set of stacking rings
a cube which you push a ball into
some very large peg jigsaws
a treasure basket
for later on
a learn to dress doll
cylinder blocks
pink tower
assorted jugs bowls and spoons for practical life (used for water play at mo.)
we tend to cycle her toys and place them on low shelves so she can help herself.
We have had a good activity weekend as well, water play, went to the beach and played with the sand, read lots of books and played with dough.
I am also looking for information on montessori from birth to three as my training started a two and a half so I am off to look at amazon.

Going back to go forward.
Its Harry 1st birthday in just over two weeks, so i thought i would blog about my pregnancy and Harrys birth and some of the last year so I have a momento.
Found out I was pregnant 6th October 2003 after eight weeks of trying.
Saw Midwife three weeks later and was told to see Dr at Hospital due ti high BP, I was in and out of the postnatal ward a lot with headaches and high BP, but I really enjoyed my pregnancy apart from PMS type mood swings, I am suprised Mark is still here!!!
Harrys Birth
contractions started 3am on tuesday 15th June 2004 my due date!!!!, went back to sleep till 5am, had a bath put tens machine on got a hot water bottle, phoned my mum who was my second birthing partner and paced the house while stamping my feet and slapping marks arms a lot, that was great pain relief but I left him with bruises, phoned ward at 10 am and finally went in at about 11.15, was told I was 8cm and kept pacing. Started on gas and air, laid down as my knee was killing me, more than labour, then at fully dilated everything stopped, was asked lots of times do you want to push, no enjoying the rest was my thought but then.......
Harrys heart rate dropped, midwife hit buzzer and asked for senior midwife to break my waters but we didnt get her....
We got a doctor who examined me and broke my waters with no consent, found meconium and blood and said I had to go to theatre......
Was told on the way along the corridor sign this, we may injure your bowel but dont worry we will fix it she an instrumental delivery, at this point i was attached to the gas and air when we got to theatre it had worn off, they put a scalp clip on Harry Head and her heart rate was okay?????dodgy sonicaid???? when i said I want to get up they wanted to put my legs up, at that point i thought no one is listening to me and asked to be knocked out was asked are you sure and ended up with a C section, still very annoyed how it was handled and that I missed Harry first minutes also was not keen on the eight odd week recovery, I thought I would put this in words it kind of puts it into perspective any ladies had a VBAC just musing, Rachel and Harry

Shes almost walking
Harry is off pulling herself up and side stepping along.
She can also stack two blocks and enjoys banging pots and pans.
Any she loves "reading"books and pat a cake.
She has changed soo much in a month, not my little baby anymore a real little lady.

Hello all.
I hope this works, I am rusty and I am mum to Harry who is ten months, I am a montessori teacher and I am hoping to home ed, as I am not happy with school provision in our area and we cant afford to go private.
I am aiming to start relaxed home ed using montessori principles between a year and fiften months as formal montessori starts at the age of 2.5. so, we will see how it goes.
I will now see if this posts!!!!!!
